-
File Library Pros
- One-click alphabetize, or can manually sort via drag-and-drop.
- Can deactivate a file with one click, and keep it for future use.
- Can fit a lot of files in a compact space (compared to Doc Viewer).
- Can add a description of each file, if desired.
- Supports tagging & filtering.
- Supports any file type.
-
File Library Cons
- Must upload each file separately.
- Content of files is not indexed by Google. (Titles and descriptions are indexed.)
- Cannot nest files into categories (consider using Tabbed Widget app with multiple File Libraries to achieve this).
- Can only have files in this app (no links).
- Files are stored within the app itself, so if you delete the app, the files go with it (they are not stored in Files & Folders).

- Cannot add files from the Shared folder.
- Cannot control the style or look of how files are listed (template-dependent).

Content App Pros
- You can arrange your content however you wish (single-space, double-space, font size and weight, alignment, images, etc.).
- You can have URLs and files mixed together (some links point to webpages, some links point to documents).
- You can mass upload files under Tools > Files & Folders, then choose "Existing File" for each item--slightly faster to add files that way.
- You can pull from Shared Files.
- Conent of files is indexed by Google--helps visitors find what they are looking for when doing a search.
-
Content App Cons
- Does not have one-click alphabetize.
- Does not have one-click link/file removal.
- Rearranging content can be risky--might accidentally delete content you wanted to keep.
- With flexibility comes inconsistency (different look from page to page).
-
Content Accordion and Tabbed Content are variations on the Content app and have the same pros/cons, just with the added benefit of separating groups of files.
