Expectations and Rules
WORK HARD! + BE NICE!
- Be in your seat and ready to work when the bell rings!
- Bring required books and materials to every class!
- Listen and stay seated when someone is speaking!
- Follow directions the first time they are given!
- Turn assignments in on time!
- Treat everyone and their property with respect!
- Follow Lab Safety Rules!
Consequences
The first time, the problem will be discussed with the student. The second infraction will result in a refocus referral form, which can be given to the vice-principal. If the problem continues, the parents will be notified. At this time, a conference with the student, parents, and teacher may be necessary. In severe cases (depending on the situation and at my discretion) you will be sent to the Assistant Principal.
Grading
Grades will be based on the total number of points that can be earned for the quarter. Those points are earned on daily assignments, being prepared for class, lab assignments, participation, following directions, group work, and special projects related to various topics. Normally, each student should have a chance to earn close to 1000 points each quarter.
Conduct and Effort Grade
Behavior, attitude, being prepared for class, and participation are reflected in your conduct and effort grade. Each student will start the quarter with a 100 points or an A+. Points may be deducted as the quarter goes on for coming to class unprepared, lack of attention and focus during class, and participation.
Late Work will be docked 25% of the grade for the first day it is late. If an assignment is more than 2 days late, the most you can get for that assignment is a 50% of the grade. If you have a legitimate reason for an assignment being late, please talk to me in advance and we can make arrangements for an acceptable due date. It is your responsibility to find out what assignments you missed if you are absent. Makeup work following an absence will follow the student handbook. Long term project assignments will be due on the due date/first day back in school after an absence, unless arrangements have been made.
