Symposium: Educational Excellence Through Equity

PIL/Act 48 (Act 45) Requirements
**40 Hours**
To receive PIL/Act 48 (Act 45) credit, the participants must:
- Attend two days of face-to-face time with Alan Blankstein and Pedro Noguera during the two-day symposium, including the afternoon session of July 29
Complete a "Culminating Project" that demonstrates the application of the PIL standards, program big ideas, concepts and competencies being developed as a result of the program - Participate in a Virtual Professional Learning Community (VPLC) to review their project
- Engage in an Evidence Fair to share how the culminating project impacts student achievement (either October 6 in Abington OR December 10 in the PASA office in Harrisburg)
- Complete a reflective paper
Expected Outcomes
Participants will:
- Expand and deepen their understanding of the equity issues facing Riverside County, the state of California, and the nation.
- Learn how to address issues of equity in everyday practice, creating more equitable school cultures and climates.
- Learn from school districts who are successfully implementing systematic approaches to achieving equity in their schools.
- Continue to renew the passion for ensuring that every student in Riverside County will graduate from high school well prepared for college and the work force.
